wang-zifei-obama-shanghai-town-hallThe boyfriend of chinese student Wang Zifei, who is labelled as 'Obama girl', reportedly paid media for her fame. She's become international sensation after she was filmed during US President Barack Obama's speech in Shanghai, China.

Overnight celebrity

wang-zifei-small-kangarooWang Zifei, who sat behind Obama when he delivered his speech at the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, has become a Internet celebrity. All she did was removing her red coat, revealing her carefully-chosen black dress.

Payment allegations

Her rise to a celebrity was swift. Now, some online media ( Shanghaiist & ESWN ) have reported that her boyfriend actually paid RMB100,000 (US$14,000) to hire a Beijing Internet promotional strategy company to take advantage of Obama's speech and create what became the ‘Obama girl.'

wangzifei3There is no evidence of the alleged payment. Wang Zifei, who is studying business at Jiaotong University wrote on her blog that she had no interest in joining entertainment world. That does not stop some of the so-called 'Internet strategists' speculating that the whole thing was a staged ploy and that she was about to enter showbiz.
