chinese_xfactor_ukwin_2Mary Jess Leaverland, age 19, has won a Chinese version of the X Factor in a province in China. She sang in both English and Mandarin (Chinese).

Is she China's Leona Lewis?

British exchange student Mary Jess Leaverland won Jiangsu province's equivalent of the X Factor by singing in both English and Mandarin.

She is being billed as China's Leona Lewis by her fans.

"It was all televised and we had to film for around three weeks in a row. It was the most exciting thing I have done in my life."

No multi-million-pound record deal

Ms Leaverland doesn't get a multi million-pound record deal for winning, but is being treated like a celebrity in the eastern Chinese province. She was the only foreigner in the final, and now chased by autograph hunters.
