Miss America's comments cause outrage among gamers. She said video games cause laziness and children should stay away from them.

Strong opinion against video games

Caressa Cameron, a 22 year-old from Virginia said that video games, among other entertainment outlets, were contributing to the laziness of young children.

She said

"Take away the TV, take away the video games, set some standards for our children!"

She also added that she believed parents should encourage their kids to play outdoors.

Gamers' heated response

However, gamers, are quick to criticise her comments about "playing imaginary games with sticks in the street like I did when I was little." One game site states that she is on the "wrong side" of the 170 million gamers in the United States.

US$50,000 scholarship won

Cameron, a broadcast journalism student at Virginia Commonwealth University, was awarded a US$50,000 scholarship.

She now plans to continue her broadcasting education after her year as Miss America. Cameron hopes to become a television anchor.

Do you think she is right?
